11/8 CFB PREVIEW NEW MEXICO AT SAN DIEGO STATE

11/9 College Football Preview: San Diego State -2.5 vs. New Mexico, O/U 65

When New Mexico (3-6, 2-3) travels to San Diego State (3-5, 2-1), expect the scoreboard operator to stay busy. San Diego State head coach Sean Lewis, in his first year, has his offense hitting its stride. Known for running a fast-paced offense that dominated the MAC during his time at Kent State, Lewis took this head coaching job after a season with Colorado and has now fully implemented his up-tempo style. This is an ideal matchup for his offense, as they’ll face a New Mexico defense that has struggled all year.

San Diego State’s defense has shown vulnerabilities, especially with weaker teams like Hawaii and Wyoming putting up 24 points against them. New Mexico, however, is no stranger to high-scoring affairs, with point totals in their games reaching 94, 23, 95, 89, 90, 59, 64, 100, and 66. In four of their conference games, New Mexico has scored 45, 50, 52, and 50 points, but their defense has allowed 35+ in all but one game, including 40+ in five games this season.

This game looks set for touchdowns in bunches in this late-night matchup. While San Diego State would be the slight favorite on the side, given coach Lewis’s offensive system and vision, the greater value lies in the over. These two teams should make the posted total of 65 look small.

Strong Lean: New Mexico/San Diego State Over 65
